Apple Delays 27-inch iMac Orders

December 13, 2009

Terrible news for those who have ordered 27-inch iMacs from Apple. The reason for the delay is some issues with the beautiful 27-inch IPS TFT LCD sporting a grand 2560 x 1440 pixel format. The problem seem to center around the ATI Radeon HD 4670 and 4850 graphics cards that lead to flickering and yellow-tinging. [...]

Put one of Apple’s new 27-inch Core i7 iMacs on your desk, and you run the risk of alienating yourself from your friends, co-workers and loved ones… The iMac’s screen is so freaking huge, so bright and crisp, it will render you dumb with child-like glee. You’ll just want to sit [...]

Macworld benchmarks show the top-of-the-line 2.8 GHz Core i7 27-inch iMac besting 2.66 GHz quadcore and 2.26 GHz octacore Mac Pros. I used to like to tinker. Now I like the best minds and manufacturing to do it for me. The top-end iMac costs about the same as the 2.66 GHz quadcore Mac Pro at [...]

Apple 27-inch iMac: 2560 x 1440, IPS, LED Backlight, i7

October 20, 2009

Resolution Ah, finally. Apple’s got the resolution bug. And I’m glad. Apple introduced a bunch of gear today including two new iMacs. The new iMacs come in two sizes: 21.5-inch and 27-inch. I’ll concentrate on the larger 27-inch iMac because that’s where I think Apple put a bit more energy into updating one of the [...]
