Intel’s next set of CPUs are around the corner. The Core i9 has six cores, two more than the current performance leading Core i7. Early benchmarks show these hexacore CPUs improving performance by up to 50% over current i7 CPUs for 3D modeling and video encoding tasks. Windows 7, Snow Leopard and other OSes are becoming better optimized to take advantage of multiple cores. The i9 will be more power hungry, as expected: 130W versus 95W for the i7. These hexacore CPUs geared for servers and workstations are expected to be available in early 2010. Source: PCLab via Electronista, Engadget

Macbook Pro Review November 24, 2009 at 10:23 am

Wow technology is really advancing alot quicker than before. I really love the new solid state drives. Even though they cost a pretty penny, they do the job 10 times quicker than a regular hard disk drive, even if its jumped at 7200rpm.

Good post!

Your comment is slightly off-topic but yes technology continues to advance: Moore’s Law come to mind. As for SSDs, I’m tempted to get one. But first I have to figure out what I need to sell on eBay to pay for it.
