New iPod touch is really faster

Apple claimed the new iPod touch was faster than the old one by 50%. Let’s see.

Compared to the old iPod touch (MacWorld tests):

• Boot times: 31 –> 19 seconds
• New York Times webpage loading: 34 –> 15 seconds
• Peggle app launch: 12 –> 7 seconds
• HR Battle app launch: 20 –> 15 seconds
• Rolando 2 app launch: 10 –> 5 seconds
• Sunspider JS test: 34.2 –> 15.6 seconds

Looking at the results of these tests certainly seem to confirm about a 50% speed increase.
