Clevo’s M980NU is a rather large note­book PC sport­ing a 18.4″ LCD. The LCD fea­tures a 1920 x 1080 pixel for­mat. You will know when this beast is pow­ered on because there are blue LEDs every­where! Notebook Check took a pre­pro­duc­tion model for a ride and checked the mas­sive 18.4″ LCD. The LCD showed a decent bright­ness of 220 cd/m2 in the mid­dle but they did men­tion that light fall-off toward the edges were a bit pro­nounced with the upper right cor­ner reg­is­ter­ing a bright­ness of just 164.1 cd/m2 and the upper left just 163.7 cd/m2. Contrast ratio was a very good 595:1. Color fidelity was very good and was mea­sured by a Spyder 3 tool. The color gamut was a bit higher than reg­u­lar LCD pan­els geared for note­book PCs but a lit­tle less than RGB LED backlit-LCDs. Very good news indeed for gamers who want their col­ors to be excellent!
