Sharp‘s AQUOS LC-52BD80U is a 52″ 1080p LCD TV that sports a built-in Blu-ray player. The LC-52BD80U uses the company’s new ASV (Advanced Super View) Superlucent TFT LCD that has an ultra-smooth finish to minimize gloss and reflections while improving brightness and contrast. The 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced should help minimize motion coming out of the built-in Blu-ray player. The 10-bit ASV LCD panel also provides more than a billion colors and is Deep Color comptabile. The LC-52BD80U has dejudder technology that makes film look like… film.

Although I’m not a fan of integrating other functions such as a Blu-ray player into the TV itself, I think the time might be right for such a thing. I have a Hitachi CRT TV with a built-in VHS player. The VHS player broke many years ago. I haven’t fixed it. But now I think the Blu-ray player will last about as long as the 52″ LCD TV and should not pose the same problem. Just a hunch.
