NEC introduced its LCD2690WUXI2 at MacWorld 2009. The LCD2690WUXI2 is a 26″ LCD monitor that is geared for professionals who require very high color fidelity. The IPS (In-Plane Switching) TFT LCD sports a color gamut of 97.8% AdobeRGB, a pixel format of 1920 x 1200, and includes the company’s X-Light Pro auto luminance control that automatically adjusts the brightness of the display depending on the ambient light setting. My favorite LCD technology is IPS because of the very wide viewing angles and color accuracy. The LCD2690WUXI2 comes with a very generous 4-year parts and labor warranty that includes the backlight. The price? $1199. Hefty but probably worth it. Considering that the previous generation LCD2690WUXI is still going for $1159.99 (Amazon.com) but has a slightly higher brightness (400 cd/m2) and a bit lower contrast ratio (800:1).
