HP‘s Pavilion dv3 is an entertainment-oriented notebook PC sporting a 13.3″ LED backlit LCD. HP calls the LCD a “LED BrightView backlit display”. The 13.3″ LCD features a more traditional 16:10 aspect ratio and a 1280 x 800 pixel format. Graphics is powered by ATI’s Radeon HD 3200 series GPU. There are plenty of ports including an ExpressCard slot, HDMI connection and a media card reader. HP has done its homework on the connections: the HDMI port should come in very handy when you want to connect the dv3 to a LCD TV. But if you were thinking of watching 16:9 HD content on the dv3 itself, I’m afraid you’ll need to deal with either black bars or a full screen but with slightly lower quality. The external design is standard HP: very nice. I’m not too hot on the bronze color but I’m sure there will be other standard colors available.
