Vizio VF550XVT1A: 55

Look past the annoying watermarks and you can see a well designed Vizio LCD TV. Vizio’s VF550XVT1A (who comes up with these model names?!?) is a 55″ LCD TV that sports a 1920 x 1080 pixel format. The frequency is doubled to 120Hz, which will reduce motion blur significantly and the relatively fast 5ms will aid in providing good fast-moving video on the massive 55″ LCD. I personally don’t like glare on my displays so the VF550XVT1A has an “advanced polarizer” that the company claims reduces reflectivity. Good! There are a LOT of connectivity options including five HDMI ports and an HD Game port. The HD Game port is on the side of the VF550XVT1A and is probably engineered to eliminate input lag from gaming consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Gamers rejoice! The real strength of the 55″ LCD TV monster is the price: just US$1,999! That’s MSRP and street prices (at CostCo) will be even lower! What is strange is that you’ll need to wait until January 2009 to get a hold of one of these. Remember: patience is a virtue.

Just purchased the Vizio VF550VXT. Easy install and set up.
Picture needs a little twiking. All new TV’d do.
Turns out it’s everything I could hope for. Perfect picture, energy efficient,120 Hrz processor really makes a difference. I also own a 47″ Vizio, complete with motion blur.
Best of all I paid $1800. As usual Visio has done it again. Now I own 5 Visio TV’s. Grab one if you can find it you won’t be disapointed.

Thanks for the feedback whitneysesales. I agree with you that all new TVs should be tweaked or calibrated for best picture quality since not all environments are the same. $1800 is a very good price. Would you mind telling me where you purchased it? I guess the 47″ Vizio that you have doesn’t feature 120Hz and hence the motion blur that you’re seeing. How much of an impact do you think 120Hz has on eliminating motion blur? Do you think 240Hz or even 480Hz is necessary? Thanks again for your comment!
