Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology (TMDisplay) to Mass Produce OEL Panels

Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology (TMDisplay) is owned by Toshiba (60%) and Matsushita (40%) and manufacturers high-end small TFT LCD displays based on amorphous (a-Si) and high temperature poly silicon (LTPS) technologies. On July 21, TMDisplay announced that it will be the first Japanese company to mass produce organic electroluminescent (OEL) display panels and plans to mass produce 2.5″ OEL panels at a rate of 1 million per month geared for mobile phones. TMDisplay expects production to commence in the fall of 2009. The location of the OEL plant will be in the Ishikawa Prefecture.
