LCD TV Prices to Drop Soon

Mitsubishi, Sharp and Samsung will drop prices on LCD TVs in the next few weeks. LCD manufacturers have pumped a tremendous amount of LCD panels into the supply chain thinking that everything is fine and bragged about it during their Q1′08 quarterly earnings reports. Q2′08 comes around and things aren’t so rosy any more. LCD TV brands are stating that demand is drying up.
And now for the good part: prices are dropping. Let’s have a look at who is dropping how much on which models:
Mitsubishi
LT-40148: $2300 –> $2000, down $300
LT-46148: $2800 –> $2600, down $200
LT-52148: $3400 –> $3200, down $200
LT-46149: $3200 –> $3000, down $200
LT-52149: $3800 –> $3400, down $400
LT-46246: $3400 –> $3200, down $200
LT-52246: $4100 –> $3700, down $400
You can see that the largest price drops are for the higher end 52″ LCD TVs, down $400.
Sharp
LC-46SE94U: $3000 –> $2700, down $300
LC-52D64U: $2800 –> $2700, down $100
LC-52SE94U: $3800 –> $3500, down $300
LC-37D64U: $1500 –> $1300, down $200
LC-32D44U: $1300 –> $1100, down $200
Sharp’s price declines are a bit less than those from Mitsubishi. The largest drop is for its SE series 46″ (LC-46SE94U) and 52″ (LC-52SE94U) LCD TVs, by $300.
Samsung
LN52A750: $3200 –> $2700, down $500
LN52A550: $2400 –> $1980, down $420
LN37A450: $1100 –> $1000, down $100
LN32A550: $1100 –> $1000, down $100
LN40A550: $1500 –> $1260, down $240
LN52A650: $3200 –> $2500, down $700
LN46A650: $2500 –> $2060, down $440
LN46A530: $1600 –> $1500, down $100
LN40A550: $1500 –> $1260, down $240
Samsung’s price declines are most aggressive. The biggest drop in price is for its LN52A650, another 52″ model. The other 52″ model, its LN52A750, drops $500.
Sony will soon drop prices too. It has to. Why? Recently Sony has stated that it will throttle down production of its 52″ LCD TVs. Good times are a comin’.
