Lenovo ThinkPad X200: 12

Lenovo‘s ThinkPad X200 just earned Laptop’s Editor’s Choice award. The lack of an optical drive didn’t curtail enthusiasm for the X200 as an “excellent lightweight notebook for mobile professionals.” The X200 is for doing what business people do on the road: checking emails, doing some Office work and then playing a bit of Solitaire. So if you’re thinking of toting the X200 to your next LAN party for a little Crysis action, think twice. On the other hand, you’ll probably have no problems getting in some WoW action. No optical drive, but we expected that. The display is 12.1″ wide. You can fit the X200 with a 64GB SSD or a traditional HDD up to 320GB. The X200 will be fast and you can have one with up to a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, up to 4GB of RAM and comes with a myriad of wireless options: UWB (Ultra Wide Band), WiMAX, GPS, etc. Now, you would think you’d need to pay a considerable sum of your hard-earned money. Not so. Lenovo‘s selling it to you for just US$1,199, starting price. Source: Yahoo! News via Engadget

Updated with a nice picture from 51nb.com of Lenovo’s X200. Doesn’t look all that different from its older sibling, the X300, but there is one big external difference: the absence of a trackpad.

I like working on trackpads and I really don’t like working on little red rubber pointers. The X200 is a no-go for me because there is no trackpad. Unfortunate. But with a lower price, the X300 has become just a bit more affordable. Source: 51nb.com via Engadget

Hardspell has posted up some pictures of what seems to be a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 ultraportable notebook PC, the smaller version of the X300. The site is suggesting the size of the LCD to be about 11″. If the X200 has been crafted from the X300, it’s got great genes and should provide an overall stellar experience.
