Fujitsu Siemens SCALEOVIEW Q22W-1

Pixel Format: 1680 x 1050

Price: £299 (US$600)

The 22″ SCALEOVIEW Q22W-1 will be launching on August 30, 2007 according to Fujitsu Siemens. The name SCALEOVIEW is a bit lacking in professionalism, but the features of this 22″ wide LCD monitor seem to very focused on communication and entertainment. With the high-quality camera built-in (and good video chatting software) the user can easily video chat and there are microphones to boot. The DVI and HDMI inputs allow for this monitor to be used as the display for DVDs, HD-DVDs, Blu-ray disks, PS3 and about anything else that has video out. The panel is most likely a TN type with a wide viewing angle film to improve the limited viewing angle from just TN alone. At £299, it is very expensive and a Dell Ultrasharp 20″ wide might be a better value: even though you are losing 2″, you are not losing any screen real estate as the pixel format is identical and you get better LCD technology: S-IPS from LG.Philips LCD or PVA from Samsung.

Beware of Fujitsu Siemens
Please people NEVER buy a computer from this company.
I’ve had a very bad experience with Fujistsu Siemens. I have an Amilo pi505, the dvd player wasn’t working so they took it in for repairs, it came back with no change, the guarantee still had a few weeks left so I sent it off again and this time they kept the laptop and refused to give it back unless I paid for the repairs. After several weeks of “discussion” they suggested I just pay the money and then ask for a refund after.
I paid the money €113 and got the computer back, unrepaired, problem worse than ever and they refuse to give me a refund. Now the guarantee is finished so they are saying they don’t have to repair it because it’s no longer under warranty.
I wrote a letter to customer care a month ago which has been ignored.
I am now with a computer that is not fully functioning and feeling extremely stressed out and powerless.
I cannot recommend this company to anyone.
It’s going to take a lot of yoga to overcome resentments about this company.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY A COMPUTER FROM THIS COMPANY.
I am sorry to hear about your terrible experience with Fujitsu Siemens. I personally have not purchased any products from them, but your example shows how important customer service is. I do hope that someone from Fujitsu Siemens can help you get your computer fixed so you can at least have a working computer.
By the way, what was wrong with your computer?
The guy who came to my house to fix it says the video card is not working properly - what for me is wrong is that the sound warps when you play a dvd, this was sort of bearable before it got sent for the first “repair”.
After the second “repair” the sound was in slow motion as was the film if you played a dvd and a week later the screen has gone very dark.
The customer care so far has been very unhelpful, they are now ignoring my emails and did not respond to a letter I sent a month ago. I am now getting advice from the consumentedn bond (consumer union) and am finding out how to take action.
I don’t think I am the only person who has had this problem with them because I have been researching this on the internet.
Thanks for asking.
I should add that the guy who came to fix the computer was the one who contacted the customer care people since the computer was still under warranty.
These problems sound like the result of general poor quality construction. I believe you received a lemon. I do hope you are able to either get a new unit or have your unit repaired. Best wishes to you!
I phoned the consumer bond people who give you advice and (won’t bore you with a long detail) they arranged for us to see the legal advice people who are going to help us get a refund or a new computer. Hopefully something good will result from this. Happy Christmas!
I really want a Mac laptop now (do you hear me Santa?)
